In my opinion, this sentiment should be Arend Builders motto. Hello! My name is Denise Kwalton and I wish to express my deep satisfaction in and gratitude to Adam and his father Philipe Arend.

My husband, Craig, had always had a dream of living in a beautiful house on Lake Superior. He spent many years working on that dream...invisioning the peace and quiet, the trees, the sunsets on the water, the wildlife and the great victorian style home he would have built for our retirement. We both worked two jobs to make sure we could do it right and after some hard times, call them "building blunders" if you will, God blessed us with the Arend family. They came to our rescue with cross country skiis the first time we called them to look at the property. We were livng in Grosse Ile, MI about 11 hours away and the voice on the other end of the telephone was exuberant!, positive! and extremely gracious! Comforting to two medical practicioners that did not have a clue about what needed to done with such a daunting project so far from where we were living! The end result of their hard work and dedication is a breath taking stone front, double door entry way, natural cedar shake sided Victorian style home with a green roof complete with turret! The decking is out of this world... three of them! The back porch, very big. The lake front porch, huge wrap around! The master bedroom porch, just right! Adam's dog even helped by finding the best path to the water for the board-walk!

The interior of the house is wonderful as well! Open concept, alot of windows without window treatments...you don't need them! The great room has a thirty five foot ceiling with a natural stone fireplace with a natural log mantel that Adam crafted himself! The master bedroom has a double sided fireplace between the bedroom and bathroom which has a two person jucuzzi bath tub! Another fireplace is located on the main floor in the room to be used as the entertainment room. The house has also been wired for stereo. The kitchen has tiled counters, oak hard wood flooring, oak cabinetry and Adam added oak wainescoating to the island and sides of the cupboards to give everything a finished look! I cannot describe the attention to detail, the wonderful suggestions, the dedication and the loving care that went into all of the work that Adam had done for us. He has a heart of gold! Adam also has been opening and closing our home for us since 2001.

He is always willing to lend a hand when you need him too. When you choose Arend Builders, you don't just hire a company, you're blessed with a dear friend for rest of your life.


p.s. Just as an end note; I wrote this without my husband's input because he passed away six months ago. It was his favorite time of year "Up North". Craig and I were able to spend only a few weeks in his dream home during the summer months. But we thoroughly enjoyed each and every moment!

As the recent recipient and inhabitant of a beautifully completed home by Arend Builders, I would like all who seek to achieve a similar goal, to accept this testimonial as a positive response to the overall pursuit and completion of all aspects of the home building process. Construction may only begin upon receipt of an overwhelming number of land development and, building construction permits; a series of initial procedures that Arend builders is highly experienced at pursuing and completing.



Although I, personally conceptualized and, basically designed the home myself. The initial home and building site concepts were each upgraded by numerous, and exceptionally positive enhancements that were, in each area, first conceived and then made manifest by the arends. Each upgrade from my own basic design has since, upon the home’s completion, been accepted by me as a most appropriate and appreciated gift; a exceptionally positive experience in the building trade.



Should you, therefore, wish to create a new home or just upgrade, and enhance, existing properties in the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I would personally, highly recommend Arend Builders as the primary resource, for the manifestation of a most positively completed project.

Arend Builders created our original cottage around 14 years ago; they’d been recommended to us by a local lumberyard as “someone who knows about building on a sand dune.” They were sensitive to our environment, and even fitted our deck around a lovely red pine rather than taking the tree down. Two years later, when we needed an addition, we again chose Arend. Same with our new garage and storage area.
